Educational Foundations

Welcome to the Department of Educational Foundations! We explore the essential underpinnings of education, examining the historical, philosophical, social, psychological, and cultural contexts that shape teaching and learning. Our department is dedicated to fostering a deep understanding of why and how education functions within society, preparing educators and researchers to create effective, equitable, and transformative learning environments.

The Department of Educational Foundations offers a broad range of study that examines education from multiple perspectives:

  • Philosophy of Education: Investigating the fundamental questions about the purpose, values, and aims of education.

  • History of Education: Understanding how educational systems, theories, and practices have evolved over time and across different cultures.

  • Sociology of Education: Analyzing the relationship between education and society, including issues of social stratification, inequality, and cultural transmission.

  • Psychology of Education: Exploring the cognitive, social, and emotional development of learners, and how these factors influence learning processes.

  • Comparative and International Education: Examining educational systems and issues in different countries to gain broader perspectives and identify best practices.

  • Curriculum Studies: Understanding the theories, development, and implementation of educational curricula.
