A Professor of Human Anatomy at Northwest University, Kano, with over two decades of experience in teaching, research and academic leadership. His work spans biological anthropology, cytogenetics, molecular genetics, histology and metabolic health research, with contributions to studies of mtDNA variation, neuroanatomy and applied anthropometry.
He earned his PhD and MSc in Human Anatomy from Ahmadu Bello University, an MPH in Epidemiology, and completed advanced training in molecular and anthropological genetics at the University of Kansas. This combination of anatomical, molecular and population-health expertise shapes his approach to studying population diversity, disease risk markers, toxicological effects on tissues, and the biological bases of growth, cognition and metabolic disorders.
He collaborates across disciplines to connect anatomical science with genetics, epidemiology and emerging digital tools. His career includes significant administrative roles: Head of Department, Dean of Basic Medical Sciences, Director of SIWES, and Director of Research, Innovation and Development. He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Anatomical Society of Nigeria and the Anthropological Association for Humankind, and has presented research at major national and international conferences. He is also a Charter Member of the Association of Cybersecurity Practitioners, reflecting his interest in secure research environments and data integrity.
