The Northwest University Kano Journal of Shari'ah and Contemporary Affairs (NUKJOSCA) is a peer-reviewed academic journal committed to advancing scholarship at the intersection of Islamic law (Shari’ah) and contemporary socio-legal, political, economic, and technological affairs. The journal seeks to promote interdisciplinary dialogue and critical engagement within the framework of Islamic jurisprudence and modern-day challenges. It aims at maintaining the highest international academic standard. It seeks to advance comparative jurisprudence and encourage the development of analysis and critique of various intellectual dimensions of affairs raised. Members of the Editorial Board are seasoned academics in their respective fields of specialization.

We invite articles for our maiden edition that explore how Shari'a law interacts with modern legal systems, human rights and social justice, financial systems, family law reforms, environmental ethics, artificial intelligence, and global governance.
Scope and Areas of Interest
We welcome original, unpublished manuscripts including theoretical, doctrinal, socio-legal and empirical research in areas such as:
- Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) and legal theory (Usul al-Fiqh)
- Contemporary applications of Shari'a in governance and public policy
- Islamic Humanitarian Law
- Islamic finance and economics
- Shari'a and human rightsdiscourse
- Muslim personal and family law reforms
- Shari'a, ethics, and bioethics
- Islam and modern technologies (AI, digital ethics, etc.)
- Gender and social justice in Islamic law
- Comparative law and Islamic legal traditions
- Fatwa institutions and contemporary legal challenges
Submission Guidelines
The Editorial Board will only consider papers which are in conformity with the following guidelines:
- The article must be written in British English or Modern Standard Arabic (MSA).
- Papers must contain detailed information about the author(s) on a separate page.
- Papers should contain an Abstract of not more than 250 words
- Manuscripts should be between 6,000–10,000 words, including references.
- Exceptional papers exceeding this limit may be accepted.
- Must be submitted in Microsoft Word format.
- 1.5 line spacing on A4, 12 Font size, Times New Roman, with automatic footnotes numbered consecutively.

- All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer-review process.
- Manuscripts must be original and not under review elsewhere.

Contributors should submit their papers through the journal’s email: nujosca@gmail.com (or alternatively, via Whatsapp number +2348035312271) together with proof of payment of assessment fee of N8,000.00. Where a paper is accepted for publication, the author is expected to pay the sum of N10,000 as publication fee. The payments should be made to the following account:
