Northwest University Conducts end of the Year Management Retreat in Kaduna

Northwest University, Kano has conducted 2017 end of the year retreat with presentations from the Vice- Chancellor, principal officers, Deans, Directors and Head of major units of the university on their respective offices in addition to other presentations by resource persons.

Speaking during the programme which was held between 4th and 6th January, 2018 at the Martaba Millennium Hotel, Kaduna, the vice – chancellor of the university, Prof. Mustapha Ahmad Isa said the retreat was the second of its kind in the history of the university and was organized mainly to take a situational report from all the faculties, directorates, units and organs of the university for the 2017.

He added that the outcome of the presentations during the retreat would be put into the production of annual report for the year 2017.

He noted with satisfaction the production of 2016 annual report which was the compilation of the end of the year 2016 retreat held in zaria. According to him, “most importantly, the purpose is to really deepen our knowledge of the university system in order to improve the way we conduct our business from the principal officers to the deans, directors and heads of some major units.

"In view of that, we invited an expert who had vast experience in the university system to speak to us on a major issue in the university system. Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim Yakasai, Dean School of Post graduate Studies, Bayero University Kano was invited to speak on the Examination Processesin a University from CA to CGPA. And the second speaker Prof. Mustapha Ahmad Isa Vice Chancellor Yusuf Maitama Sule University on the Leadership and Decision Making, Some Case Studies".

The resource persons gave more ideas and lectured on very informative issues, adding that they will assess the lectures and see where they are doing well so that they will continue in that direction, stating however that they will also review areas of deficiencies in the way they run the university.

    

"And I must say that the retreat has been a huge success. We are here for three days and we discussed issues and at the end we arrived at some resolutions which have been documented . We are goint to put these resolutions to the implementation path" the Vice-Chancellor told the gathering. He said the objectives of the retreat were really achieved.

Prof. Mustapha Ahmad Isa commended the first presenter for a wonderful educative presentation.

The Vice Chancellor said the University within the period under review recorded tremendous achievments academically and administratively.

                     

Earlier the chairman of the retreat organizing committee, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isyaku Ibrahim Indabawa while welcoming the participant to the event, said the programme was organized and sponsored by the university management with view to discussing its major achievements and challenges from January to December 2017 as well as to discuss its plan for the year 2018.

Prof. Indabawa commended the management of the university under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mustapha Ahmad Isa for initiating the idea and giving the approval to conduct the resourceful event. He also expressed appreciation to all the participants.
