This Journal, Northwest University Kano Journal of Law and Contemporary Issues (NUKJLCI), is a brand new blind peer review Journal of the Faculty of Law, Northwest University Kano, whose maiden edition will be published in the last quarter of year 2025 to benchmark the timing of all its subsequent annually based publications.This is without prejudice to the prerogative of the Editorial Board to publish accepted articles in volumes.

The scope of the journal is multi-faceted covering scholarly works in all areas of law and contemporary issues. However, scholarly articles bordering on contemporary issues such as in politics, economy, religion, family, business, security, ICT, etc, shall be reflective of some considerable legal element.

Authors submitting manuscripts shall pay assessment fees of N10,000.0 (Ten Thousand Naira Only). Authors whose manuscripts meet publication requirements shall pay publication fees in the sum of N 15, 000.0 (Fifteen Thousand Naira Only) through the account below:

Final decision on publication of any manuscript is the prerogative of the Editorial Board to be taken after a review of assessor's report on the suitability or otherwise of any reviewed manuscript. Thereafter, authors shall beproperly informed of the report of the assessor as the case may be on the status of his/her articles.

Where corrections are required after an assessment, the Editorial Board reserves the right to return back the manuscript to the authors for corrections, in which case the period of the expected correction shall not exceed 2 weeks, failing which the publication of the manuscript may be rejected or deferred. For manuscript assessed publishable with major corrections, the Authors may be required to pay assessment fees as if it were submitted for the first time. This shall not apply to manuscript assessed publishable with minor corrections. Alternatively, in the case of major corrections, the Editorial Board may undertake the corrections, without prejudice to effecting substantial or minor changes in structure or form to the manuscript as may be considered necessary or desirable in order to: correct spelling and punctuation mistakes, as well as errors in syntax, use of idiomatic language, etc; produce or improve accuracy and coherence; and eliminate ambiguity, illogicality, tautology, circumlocution and redundancy.

For foreign Authors' assessment and publication fees shall be the dollar equivalent of the applicable fees.

Special Notice to Contributors

Contents of Articles:

Authors willing to submit manuscripts shall strictly comply with the following requirements:

-                     A cover page, including name, address, E-mail address and telephone number of the author for correspondence;

-                     Brief personal details of the author/contributor;

-                     An abstract of not more than 250 words (font size 10), an introduction and a conclusion;

-                     Proper check for spelling, punctuation, syntactical and other mistakes or omission and quotations.

 

Format for articles:

-                     Length: Articles should not exceed 20 A4 pages.  Exceptional articles of   more than 20 pages may be considered.

-                     Font: Times new roman

-                     Font size: 12

-                     Spacing: 1.5 line spacing

-                     Margins: Moderate (Top and Bottom 1, Left and right 0.75 each)

-                     Referencing format: foot notes, automatically generated (bibliographies not required)

·        Footnotes in the main text must be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals, placed in superscript and after any punctuation mark (no punctuation marks; brackets or full stops required).

·        Footnotes bottom of page must be 10 font, times new roman and single spacing.

·        Referencing style: Articles must comply with NALT or APA reference style. -                     Manuscripts should be accompanied with evidence of payment of N10,000 assessment fees for article evaluation/peer review. The amount should be paid directly into the Journal account with the following details:
